On the International Day of Tolerance on 16th November, the three partner schools in Germany, Spain and Hungary spoke out as a school community for openness and tolerance towards foreigners and stressed that there is no place for racism at our schools.

The balloons floated up into a perfect sky at the IES Tamogante on Gran Canaria and carried the message “No place for racism here” into the world after the school had carried out different activities and lectures by Amnesty International for tolerance all day long.

In Germany 100 colourful balloons drifted elegantly into the sky, but they were not alone. The wishes the pupils had sent with them flew along.

Many classes had given thought to the meaning of “Tolerance”. Here are three of a hundred examples. Tolerance is…

…”that every opinion is accepted and every person, no matter what their origin and religion is respected.”

…”that nobody attacks another only because he has not done something that is not quite right.”

“You should respect everyone, no matter where they come from or what they look like.”“

The vice-principal of the school, Mr Riediger, appeals to the listeners to consider tolerance as a part of everyday life.

On this day we attached the Erasmus+ sign to the entrance to the school.

Impressive posters against racism and exclusion designed in Art Class 12 were hung in the lobby.

Sports activities with 17 pupils of the integration class in the Adolph-Kolping School took place according to the motto “Sport integrates”.

The Hungarian school had to delay their activities to 8th April, the day of the Roma, because of poor weather. Instead, pupils took part in different tolerance activities and workshops.
